Turtles Must Eat — a web game that turns motor therapy into play. Children with cerebral palsy or autism earn on-chain NFT badges redeemable for therapy tools and school supplies.
Turtles Must Eat is a web-based therapeutic game designed for children aged 4–12 with cerebral palsy, autism, or other motor impairments. Players use adapted or standard controls to guide a turtle catching food — a fun, repetitive hand-eye coordination exercise proven to help build motor skills.
Built on the DCAI L3 blockchain, every therapy session is rewarded with an NFT badge (Bronze, Silver, or Gold based on score). These badges are permanently stored on-chain and can be verified by parents, doctors, and therapists. Parents can redeem badges at partner stores for therapy tools, sensory toys, and school supplies — turning every minute of play into a real-world reward.
Play -> Improve -> Earn -> Redeem.

During this hackathon, our team of three built Turtles Must Eat from scratch. Here's what we accomplished:

Designed and developed the full web game using Godot Engine, exported as an HTML5 package

Integrated MetaMask wallet connection via DCAI L3 blockchain

Built a smart contract that receives game scores and mints NFT badges on-chain (Bronze 50+, Silver 100+, Gold 200+)

Implemented badge display in the game UI that lights up upon receiving the NFT

Designed all game assets digitally in-house

Validated the core therapy concept with published research (Green et al. 2009, de Aguilera et al. 2003)

Developed a full business plan including tiered redemption model and roadmap to revenue

The prototype successfully completes the full loop: a child plays, a score is submitted to the blockchain, a transaction is approved, and an NFT badge is minted and displayed — all live on DCAI L3.
